Title Deed | Conveyancing terms
From a conveyancing perspective, a "Title Deed" is a document which legally proves a person’s rights with respect to a piece of land. Eg. Ownership.
It usually refers to the Deed of Transfer but can also be used for other rights. Eg. Deeds of Servitude or Mortgage Bonds.
Title Deeds follow a specific naming convention, and will look like T735/2024:
- Start with a T (for Title)
- The 4 numbers the slash are the relevant year.
- The numbers before the slash (/) are the Title Deed's number
